CHICAGO – University of Chicago's women's lacrosse program earned five selections to the Great Lakes All-Region Team, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association.
The Maroons had a region-best four First Team picks and one Second Team selection. The First Team honorees were Lulu Hardy, Rachel Keefe, Hailey Klinger and Katie Large. On the Second Team, Sophie Lynn received All-Region recognition.
Hardy earns a spot as an attacker for the second-straight year as the UChicago's top goal and point scorer. The junior from Setauket, N.Y. racked up 69 goals and 18 assists, registering 87 points in 19 games. She adds a First Team All-Region selection to her First Team and Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year honors from the CCIW.
Keefe, who was named Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year by the CCIW, also notches her second-straight First Team All-Region accolade. The second-year goalie started 18-of-19 games for the Maroons and amassed 120 saves with a miniscule 6.67 goals against average.
Klinger, who anchored the Maroon defense, is also a two-time First Team All-Region performer along with being First Team All-CCIW in back-to-back seasons. The senior from Wayne, Pa. started in all 19 games and racked up 44 groundballs and caused 22 turnovers. For her career, she finished with 113 total groundballs and 55 caused turnovers in just three full seasons.
Large, an engine in the UChicago midfield, battled back from an injury in 2022 to earn a First Team All-Region nod. The senior from Greenwich, Conn. previously was named with the same honor in 2021 and also earned Third Team All-America status that season. She racked up 29 goals and 24 assists, starting in 18-of-19 contests.
Lynn, a second-year defender, picks up her first-ever All-Region selection after gaining her first All-CCIW nod earlier this season. The Toronto, Canada-native started in all 19 games, racked up 37 groundballs and had 25 caused turnovers.
The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2023. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the 2023 All-American teams on May 24.
